Festival of Yoroi Shrine
On the evening of Sunday, September 10, 2023,
TWJLS students participated in the festival of Yoroi Shrine in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
The shrine has a very long history, dating back approximately 1,000 years,
and legend has it that the “armor” of the Kanto hero, Taira no Masakado, rests in the shrine.
It is not a large mikoshi, but it is very heavy.
The students carried the mikoshi wearing happi without feeling its weight, and their fresh expressions were encouraging.
This is a great opportunity to not only experience Japanese culture,
but also to interact with local Japanese people.
Let’s join the festival next year as well.
